The model range includes three variants : GLX, GLS and Exceed.
The entire range is powered by the Triton ute’s Euro-5 compliant 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel that produces 133kW of power and 430Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission — a Mitsubishi first.
Mitsubishi’s new gearbox helps reduce fuel consumption by 17 per cent compared with the Challenger, with the Pajero Sport claiming 8.0 litres per 100km across the range in comparison to the Challenger’s 9.8L/100km in automatic trim.
The entire range comes with a four-wheel-drive system with four drive modes and a mode selection system. The car predominantly operates in two-wheel-drive mode until the driver selects a four-wheel-drive mode with both a high-range and low-range gearbox option available. While a centre differential lock comes standard, a rear differential lock is not available on the entry level GLX — but is standard on GLS and Exceed models.
Mitsubishi engineers have altered the Triton’s rear suspension setup by removing leaf springs and instead opting for a three-link coil-sprung rear.
king this one of the most technologically advanced infotainment offerings in the segment.
